The 2009 Challenge

A team of kite surfers from Northern Ireland are planning their greatest challenge ever which will take place in autumn 2009. The team have one goal which is to kitesurf across the Irish Sea because they have a desire to raise money for worthy causes. The distance is approximately 24 miles.


Support will be required from local sailing clubs and experienced kitesurfers will also be on board to help shadow and support riders as they make the journey across. The kitesurfing community in Northern Ireland first came up with the idea in October 2008 after one of their members posted the idea up for discussion on their forum, www.nikiteforum.com Other members felt that they had a real passion to do something together and ‘off the wall’ which would involve kitesurfing in order to help raise money for four charities which are close to their hearts within the kite surfing community.
